Malibu VS 300M
I am so proud. I have heard that the Chrysler 300M is a pretty powerful car. (Not the Chrysler 300 with the hemi!) I raced one last night from a stop light. We held dead even side by side untill past 80mph then I pulled away from him and got a big lead. All bout the Chevy. ha ha

Re: Malibu VS 300M
Haha...yea, we don't have any kill stories here.
I used to enjoy racing against some of these local ricers who thought their cars were the fastest. They would look and see that I'm a younger driver and assume that I would want to race. I'm sure they would also think "it's only a Malibu, how can I not beat that?" As funny as this sounds, their "fixed up" Honda engines were no match for my stock 3.1L V6. It's funny cuz one time I was going against these two shit-talking guys in a little Civic hatchback. I raced them three times and beat them on all three runs easy. The funny part: I had a total of 5 people in my car. Ha! Even the weight advantage of the hatchback and the two guys wasn't enough for them to win. They got quiet quick and left, pretty damn embarrassed. Anyways, I don't race anymore. I think I grew out of it... |

Have you ever driven a 300M? They are fast, but you sure's the hell don't fell those 250 ponies. Maybe 250 horses at the exact perfect humidty, pressure, tempertaure etc? I know he was ragging it out cause i had the sunroof open and you could tell he was full thortle,he was right next to me and I could hear him hitting high rpms.

Re: Malibu VS 300M
Got this from http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html.
Year Make & Model (0-60) (1/4 Mile) 1999 Chrysler 300M 7.9 16.0 2004 Chevrolet Malibu 7.8 15.9 (est) Sorry, I havn't found 97-03 model times yet, but the Malibu is a lighter car than the 300M and even though the 300M is touted as a sporty car, it is still a large car and designed more for ride than speed. |

Re: Malibu VS 300M
Ok I own a 1998 Malibu LS with a stock 3.1L, It aint got no power or agility.
I also have a 1999 Chrysler 300M (253HP/255ft-lbs) with a stock 3.5L V6. It can get up to speed much quicker than the 98 Malibu, and can stustaing 118MPH with secure handling, and supurb ride, the malibu at the other hand feels very vague and unstable ast speeds over 80, and it cant even see a speed higher than 105MPH Even my moms 1998 Intrepid ES(220HP/225ft-lbs) with a 3.2L V6 moves faster than the malibu. All of our other vehicles get atleast 5mpg more than the malibu. My Malibu and 300M plus My moms Intrepid and My brothers Ranger http://www.cis.umassd.edu/~u_sgeary/...cs/SigPage.htm

Re: Malibu VS 300M
The 98LS V6 had less power (about 150HP) than the newer V6 (about 170HP). So the I can believe that the 98 feels a lot less than the 300M. Also air flow, tune up, tires, build-up on the engine all contribute to performance. I will definately agree the 300M is the finer car though. Very nice.

I would agree also that it is a very elegant car. I thought about getting one except everyone I seemed to ask about including dealers who tried to steer me towards an Intrepid said that the 300M had very common transmission problems and a/c probs as well.

Re: Malibu VS 300M
Yeah the Transmisson problem is that if you dont use Chrysler Branded Automatic transmission fluid (ATF-4), the transmission will self destruct. Also if you put to many Performance mods on the engine, the transmission will fail cause it is a little bit weak.
There are also a few more appearance mods for the 300M then there are for the Intrepid. (HID+Projector Headlamps, OEM body kit, OEM Nav, etc...)
