92 Rear Drum Brake Problem

I thought that my shoes were going bad so i went to replace them, once we got the drum(housing) off looked at the pads and they're barely worn. so we're sure it's the cylinders because it was just nasty, all black and dirty in there so we sprayed a can's worth of brake cleaner on the cylinder and everything inside of there. My uncle did most of this for me because he's pretty qualified and he adjusted the rear brakes a little and he thought that i'd be fine for awhile until we got the cylinders and he has time to help. Well I drove over to our first football game, which was prob 25 miles or so away, that night when i went to leave they started lockin up again. The only thing is it's the passenger side rear wheel that's lockin up, so if i'm in two wheel drive the driver side spins. If i stick it in four wheel drive, (it's kinda cool but not because its a problem) with that one rear wheel draggin i have to countersteer cuz it kicks my side out. Well he had to drive all the way over there so we could take the wheel of and adjust it and that bs and then i drove home, but I really dontk now what's goin on, I dont think the cylinders are that bad because they're workin and everything, any help would be appreciated greatly

Btw, if the truck is sitting in Drive, i can press the pedal in all the way and the pedal kinda gets a click in it, well like when i push it down it goes so far then it does somethin i dont know, but you can hear it like it's releasing pressure inside the drum because it makes a noise, I cant really describe this so i dont know if it'll be any help.

wheel cylinders may be sticking, or posibly e brake cable if u use it

Yeah someone mentioned the e-brake cable but I don't ever use it but i guess I could check that. If the wheel cylinder is sticking is there any way of temporarily fixing it until they can get replaced??

FYI chasing probs on a drum brake is useless as most of the internal parts rely on each other. Many people replace shoes and reinstall all old parts,springs retaining clips,etc. start from scratch..for instance you said your shoes have been locking up, now they are probably glazed over and perhaps oil soaked but i was unclear in your originall post about that issue. if a wheel cylinder is sticking which sounds strange, IT MAY BE WARN OUT. IF ITS LEAKING IT NEEDS NEW SEALS AND A HONE JOB. I, as a rule, replace all springs, retaining clips, and small parts when doing brakes because the old parts are the main reason for drum brake failures. the wheel cylinders are cheap to replace but can be rebuilt as i explained, if it is sticking it could be that the bore is to big for the piston or the fluid is contaminated.. Either way it has to be done completly and correctly the first time or your just wasting your time. When somthing in the drum is not as it should be, things get out of alignment and lockups occure. You must understand that all of those parts in the drum are under intense heat and pressure most of the time and it must be correct. Since you said they have already locked up before they are most likly bent, streched and broken even if yoou cant see it. Think of the carnage that occures in an engine when it blows up. Ever here of sombody just patching the motor and going down the road? Lastly for future emergency action when a brake does lockup just back those shoes off on that wheel all the way in, and drive carefully untill you get it home or to a repair shop. Dont drive a vehicle with malfunctioning brakes ever. Get it fixed or stay at home. no roqad trip is worth ypour life. PM me if you have more questions and ill be checking this thread....JJ
