Fiberglass hatch for Rabbits ???

The hatch on my 83 GTI has a bad rust hole right at the window seal... So my buddy told me to buy a fiberglass hatch and just replace it. I seem to be having trouble finding one. Does anyone know of a company that makes fiberglass hatches for the Rabbits? On the same note, I need the weatherstripping for the hatch also...

Any help would be appreciated.

I've never seen a fiberglass hatch. You can find almost any used part at http://www.car-part.com

i know a couple people have made them, but i have never seen one. decklids are a dime a dozen, i actually have 3 in my barn. look around at local yards or poke around www.vwvortex.com. if you are concerned about the weight of the hatch, it is the glass that weighs a ton. a friend of mine has a lexan rear window, big pimpin!
