No Luck for Evo's in U.S

It seems like you folks in the USA have no Luck with EVO's do you?

The Evo VI Got Knocked back. Now it seems like the Evo VII is.

Australia does get EVO's mainly on personal imports which slip through and when people see the Car its like they have seen god.

Australia will hopefully be getting 100 Tommi Makinen Edition Evo's or 100 Evo VII's.

think about it, if they knock back the Evo VI, what makes you think they will let the Evo VII right in, by the time they test it over there, there will be an Evo 8.

Even thought the Evo VII is so called safer and more efficient this increases the chances of the U.S getting some. But then again if all tests fail, wave bye bye to the Evo VII - and keep staring and pictures and videos.

First i hear late 2001 you'll be getting some, then early 2002 and now 2003. gee's you guys have real bad luck. :cwn27:

Well as for the bad luck part, it's what this country calls Regulations!!! Which fuckin' suck!! But on a lighter note, nothing has been mentioned here about it being pushed back. Or I haven't read anywhere of a delay. Supposedly, it is slated to come out either this fall or Spring next year. That is the main reason for my question to you.

you'd have to ask your Mitsubishi Dealer, but then again they are stuck in the mud just like you and dont know much either.

well US dont have a RALLIART supplier but HKS USA and RALLIART are gonna join ... and well i read magazines saying that Mitsubishi Motors of america is still talkin about bring the EVO VII but they have said that the intercooler wont fit for the US regulations on bumpers.. and that if they have to modify the lancer evo to us standards it would have less performance like instead of 276hp it would have to go down to 230 or sumthing like the WRX which they dont want to go through my sources are the Superstreet magazine and Sport compact car magazines and onLine hehe

No, Ralliart doesn't have a shop set up in the U.S., but Ralliart GB is really easy to deal with. Prices due to conversion are a little high, but if it's something I want, I'll pay.

from what I heard the Lancer EVO 7 is comming to the USA, it will be in dealers spring 2002 but dont expect it untill perhaps late summer/fall 2002
but there are two diff ways we might see it
1st
we will get the full out 280hp EVO & with the intercooler just a US DOT bumper

2nd
the car will stay as is with the same bumper but no intercooler hp will be 240
but
you will be able to buy the intercooler form the dealer and they will be able to install it, the ECU will also come with 2 programs one for with the intercooler one for without, with intercooler Hp will back up to 280
the car will still meet US emissions

Two points of comment:

Ralliart UK also sell LHD EVO's. In fact they still have some TME's for sale at UKP 24,995. :flash:

Don't expect a non intercooled engine to produce more than 7 psi of boost wtih a commpression ratio of 8.8. Had a Sebring Supercharger on my mazda MX-5. It was non intercooled and intake temperatures soared skyhigh in summer. Had to pull lot's of timing to avoid detonation. 240 Horses means intercooling. Same as on the WRX.

You guys won't that car so baaaaad. Next thing you all claim there will be a 280 hp Electric version, developed for California only :frog:

Is a detuned Lancer putting out 210hp like the 2nd gen Eclipse. Sounds like it might have an intercooler, but maybe just side mounted like the Eclipse had. On the bright side, at least it will be cheaper. Probably the same or maybe less than the Scooby WRX. Also, since it's just detuned, you should be able to get the 66+hp back with a little work. It's better than having a totally different engine, like the 240SX guys did.
