prelude got me in trouble

alright...the title is misleading. my own stupidity got me in trouble.

i was traveling through south carolina, and my average speed was around 120mph. i was making GREAT time, UNTIL a SC state tropper in a 2001 camaro z28 pulled me over (i didn't even think about running). anyways, i talked my way out of jail, but i'm stuck with a 500 fine and 6 points on my license. i'm gonna fight it, cuz i know for a fact he didn't scan me, and he made up the number. he said 114, i know for a fact it wasn't that, and he was facing the same direction i was, hidden behind an overpass, and i had slowed to 85 before he even saw me. but anyways, yea, i'll post a pic of the ticket as proof, and i've said it once, and i'll say it again...i hate south carolina!!!!!

[if you guys know any real good traffic attorneys in SC, post the #, i've talked to 3, and none want to represent me.]

anyways, i'm also gonna post a pic of my top speed run, which really wasn't top speed cuz we ran into two big rigs traveling side by side, so this is as fast as we got, i've gotten it to the end.

I know in some states its illegal for a cop or patrolman to hide behind shit when using the radar. It is concidered intrapment. Check NC laws to see if you can slide out of that ticket

If wasn't using his radar and/or laser. I don't think he can legally "guess" on what your speed was.

If he WAS using a radar and/or laser. There are many tactics you can use against him. Such as: Calibration, was it correctly set. Correct weather conditions (only works if it was foggy or raining at the time). I believe he also has to be facing your direction to correctly measure your speed. Radar measurements must be taken at a near 180 degree angle to be correct. The reading can also be off if the speed was taken from an angle (bend in the road and/or downhill/uphill)

I don't condone speeding, and i believe you really should pay up. I'm just trying to help you soften your consequences, and hopefully you'll learn from this experience.

I always thought that if you got a ticket in an other state other than your own with points that they didn't carry over to your state.

Acutally my college professor went to court to fight a speeding ticket and won. He said in California streets (not the freeways) you can legally go past the posted speed limit because it does not have the word "maxium" like the freeways "maxium speed limit 65mph".

So if you speed on the freeway (or highway), no chance of getting out.

Also he mentioned that there was no traffic and nobody on the streets and he was not endagering "public safety" and the Judge agreed.

also note that some car's speedo meter are not accurate 100% give or take some MPH. So maybe your car was running 114 but your speedo showed 120, even if you slowed down, maybe an aircraft patrol spotted you? Then radio to cop car down below?

Also I believe some high tech Radars can pickup speeders from any angle, all they need is the laser to bounce off the car.

lasers and radar work by using the doppler effect, so you need to be facing the exact opposite direction as the oncoming car. (US Navy Radar specialist - mine uses doppler to track its targets)

integra offers a good point. Cars spedometers are not 100 percent accurate. When I got pulled over a while back an unmarked police car pulled me over, it might of been an impala. He said he couldn't give me points because his speedomenter wasn't specially rated (it wasn't an official police car). Maybe this applies to your sittuation.

well... unless his speedo is like 50 mph off - you were still speeding because you were goin upwards of 120. speeding, is speeding, is speeding

your honor, i swear that the misunderstandment was probably due to the fact that i had just installed 26 inch rims on my car, and that completely threw off my speedo....
