RS4 coming to US?

Hey, just wondering if the RS4 was coming to the US. i heard rumors that they were adapting a biturbo kit for the 3.0 for the next RS4 (05 or 06), and was wondering if ne1 knew when it would come to us and how much it would cost.

it would be the 3.2 currently in the TT that would be twin-turboed...the 3.2 is replacing the 3.0 for the redesigned A4

the only normally aspirated german high performance cars are the BMW M3 and M5. Merc and Audi both have supercharged engines. The 4.2 would no dought be supercharged. And I would expect a price of about $60k-$75k for the RS4, and about $45k-$50k for the S4. The S4 will go on sale this year as an 06, but I think that the RS4 may come in 2006 as an '07 model.

I could be wrong, but I think that the RS6 is supercharged.

Oh, twin-turbo. Well Audi should start supercharging the engines to better compete with AMG.

Why? why supercharge opposed to turbocharge? they are just two different ways to achieve the same goal. and why would this help them compete with AMG? are they even competing with AMG? look at the price you pay for the performance you get out of each of the makers, i think youll find that Audi isnt competing with Mercs AMG division. you can get comparable engines out of audi for consideribly less money. if Audi wanted to go after AMG it could, but thats not the image its going for. while they are both german luxury car companies they have very different approaches to getting a share of the market.

I was just using supercharged as an example. Either would work fine. But Audi's performance division (AudiSport) does compete with AMG more than BMW's M. The Merc C55 AMG directly comperes with Audi S4. In price and performance. You will see many comparo's of the E55 AMG vs. the M5 (no RS6). But the E55 AMG and the RS6 are also put head-to-head (no M5). Audi DOES want to compete with AMG more (Audi does already), but Audi doesnt have nearly enough models to give the "RS" treatment to.

Audi S4 = Merc C55 AMG (price and performance)
Audi RS6 = Merc E55 AMG (performance, E55 is cheaper)

well ill give you that those are good comparisons, but i still dont think that Audi is going after AMG with its S or RS line. And you hit it on the head, it doesnt give the RS treatment its cars. that comparo is a good esample of how the models line up, but Merc still has 8 other AMG models that Audi doesnt have a response for. i also think the fact that the only RS model to come out in several years was only a limited production (only intended for one year) shows that Audi may just be stepping into the ultra-high performance luxury car segment if really at all. i also feel that while the S4 to the C55 and the RS6 to the E55 is good, look at a comparo of performance and price for the RS6 (03, only model year) ato the M5 (03, last model year) and then the new S4 to the new M3 (though not a lot of info is out yet) and i think youll find that Audi IS going after BMW a lot more than its going after Merc.

True, I never thought of the previous gen M5... But the M3 (IMO) is more of a track car for the road, whereas the S4 is more of a road car for the track. If you catch my drift. I mean, one is a coupe, the other is a sedan. But when you factor in the M3 Convertable and the S4 Cabrio, then both are a little more road biased.

I hope this makes as much sense to you as it does to me.
