Bigger the better (cams)?

the stock cam gear on a d15b2 has around 32 teeth and the stock cam off of a SOHC 84 prelude motor has around 42.... should i experiment after i build my my motor, with the bigger cam gear?

my block s currently in pieces and im building it for boost.

some people say the d16a6/SI cam gear on a d15b2 dpfi to mpfi swapped is a more power choice to go.

is the si cam gear bigger?

how about aftermarket cam gears like AEM and skunk 2s. are they bigger?

Re: Bigger the better (cams)?

I don't see how just getting a bigger cam gear would help, now if you got a bigger cam sure.

Re: Bigger the better (cams)?

if you dont change the gear on the crank, but put bigger cam gears, your gonna fuck up your timing real bad. the gears are design/sized so that the cams are turning at half the speed of the crank.

Re: Bigger the better (cams)?

Just to add...skunk2 cam gears are much better than AEM. 6 bolts vs 3 bolts. Skunk2 doesn't slip like some AEM cam gears does.

that sucks, I have a brand new pair of 3-bolt gears sitting in my garage from a year ago Now I doubt I'll be able to even sell them.

if u get adjustable cams gears...don't try and do it urself unless u know what ur doing b/c u can cause ur engine to lose hp rather than gain
