won't reverse

so my friend has a 97 lude and it won't go into reverse now. any suggestions. i know i just stated something EXTREMELY broad, but i was hopin for a few suggestions.

Try the simple things first. Fluid level, gear selector, vacume hoses. If thats not it take it to a shop.

This sounds stupid, but that sometimes happens to me as well, and I've heard Honda's do it sometimes...start the car, hold the clutch in, shift into first and then into reverse, then try letting out the clutch.

Is reverse not ingaging or will the shifter not go into reverse?

first things first, auto or manual?.... if it's auto - check the fluid and vacuum hoses and stuff.... if it's manual.... you may have a fukd synchro
