z24 sound system

i had just purchased a 98 z24 and noticed that the speaker system is quite subpar. I heard that changing the system/electronics like an amp and subs could effect the the effiency of the engine? i was wondering what would be some decent brands too look into for this type of car. thanks.

Re: z24 sound system

i dont know, i love my stock Z24 system, it sounds better than the 400 dollar system i put in my old car. Then again i have a 2001, so its a different head unit i believe.

Put whatever you want in the car.

I have a 2001 also, and i couldn't the paper cones on the stock speakers. Granted the stock system is pretty good, but i like my music loud and can't handle hearing the paper when the bass hits.

Of course I don't have a Z24 either, so your stock sound system is better than mine I'm sure.

Re: z24 sound system

I just bought a 2002 z24, and altough the stock system doesn't sound bad, i put in a Pioneer DEH-8600MP head unit, and haven't even changed the speakers yet and it has made a world of difference....Take a look at what KustmAce put down.. Those are some great brands.. I had an MTX Thunder 12" in my last car and it was great...But shop around and find what you like..

JL is best for subs in my opinion. A bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. I will eventually have some jl w7s. Even if its in my dreams lol.

Re: z24 sound system

Its not ever worth it to re adjust everytime i get in the car. In 30 seconds their back down again. I wonder if there is any way to get all the rattle out of my car? that is like a dream of mine...

Re: z24 sound system

The expanding foam will stop the rattle? i know dynamat will, but i didnt think i have enough money to dynamat the whole car, and anyways, dynamat on the outside of my dash and everything would look kinda dumb
