I just aquired my Father in Law's old 1991 Sonoma.
I have been driving it for about a week now (had to relearn how to drive a standard ).Just yesterday as I was pulling out of work, I started smelling coolant. I pulled over and started checking things out, and I saw that it was all over the passenger side floor. It looks like it had run down from under the dashboard. With the bit of searching that I've done, it looks like probably a heater core problem. My question to you is, how exactly do I get to it? Is there anyone here who has the diagram for that or some instructions on how to get to it? I'm sure that it could be: clamps are loose, hole in coolant line, or the core itself is leaking/shot. Are their any other options that I've missed? Thanks in advance for your time! Aaron |

Re: Coolant all over passenger side floor...
Heater core is junk. thats the only thing i know would do that. the dash will tip toward the seat if its loosened up. there are a bunch of lil 7mm screws all over and a couple 13 and 15 when you do it tipped out inside the heater box is where your heater core is. loosen clamps and there you have it

It doesn't sound like to difficult of a fix...
These 7mm bolts... where are they? Along the top? Then the dash should just tip toward the seat? That sounds like it is definately something that needs to be accessed from inside of the vehicle then. I'm assuming that the battery should be disconnected and the cooling system drained before tying to do this? |

Heater Core
I did replace the Heater core.
The heat is now working perfectly, without even a hint of coolant leaking. ----------------------- NitrousPC - Custom Performance Computers [email protected] |
