How Does this setup sound

how does a y8 block, y8 rods, a6 pisions, z6 head with crower cam and all that, and a y8 intake manifold sound? going with my 7 lb flywheel, i/h/e, msd. i'm currently running OBD-0 with a rpm switch for vtec. should that go together without too much trouble?

Why would you want to go through all that trouble? Your not going to jump power that much right? Unless you put in like forged pistons and better bearings at least you'll have a strong bottom end.

they y8 bock b/c apparently my tensioner bolt was crossthreaded, the y8 rods b/c they are made to rev a couple hundred more rpm than the a6, the a6 piston b/c it'll give me half a point higher compression, the y8 manifold b/c its the type-r manifold of the d series...

good enough reason, considering i'll have all the parts laying around?

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm <- look at the difference in compression for the a6 to the y8 pistons

its like free HP, if I feel like doing the work... well the y8 mani isn't free but the pistions are... and i am going to replace all of the bearings and give er a good honing and new rings.

Re: How Does this setup sound

I think you should just get some srp pistons(300 bucks? around there) or you can find some on the partstrader.com.Get the new skunk2 manifold (220-225) and eagle rods (300). You're lookin at around 800 bucks.

Re: How Does this setup sound

that sounds great, but there is one problem... i don't have 800 bucks to spend on my engine right now... and thats 800, plus 100 for rings, 100 for bearings, 100 for the new block/crank, and other 50 or so for the new gaskets... so yeah... 1400 vs 400... right now the 400 sounds better...

When I first saw that post title, I thought it was about sound systems. LOL
