Angry Reset Airbag memory

I switched the cruise control between 2 97 Jettas, and in doing so had to take off the steering wheel and airbag module. Now the airbag light is on in both cars, the dealer says the memory saw a fault condition and it has to be reset. Is there some way to do this without taking it in??

Re: Reset Airbag memory

It probably has to be done with a VAG scanner or simulator like VAG-COM. Some generic scanners may be able to do it, perhaps you can take it to Autozone & see if they can.
