CRX Smoke

Hi all.

Just a quick question, my UK Spec 89 CRX D16A9 has started to smoke when i rev the engine over 2500 rpm. This is usually as soon as i start the engine. Its not billowing smoke, just a little, but enough to notice. I do have a Quad DTM Exhaust fitted. Is this just the engine warming up, or the exhaust? It usually dies down once the engine has been running for a while. Im just worried that i might have a problem with the engine that i want to be put straight, before any major damage is done. No engine management lights have come on and the ECU is not throwing any codes, and my oil levels are constant, with no visible leaks. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? I have only had the car for a couple of months.

Hope some one can help me out.

Cheers

Jordan

Re: CRX Smoke

No, i have not really driven it much at all in the last couple of months.

Its white smoke rather than blue, and its only when the engine is revved a little. Like i said, its not billowing smoke, and to be honest, i didnt notice it till a mate pointed it out. So will the pistons rings cost me to be replaced?

Thanks for the help mate.

Re: CRX Smoke

if its white smoke when its cold its condensation from the exhaust, if it does it when its hot its probly ur headgasket, if its blue its piston rings

Well thats a bit of a relief. The Exhaust was fitted just before i bought it, and is a big Quad jobbie. Way over the top, but sounds the bollocks. So more than likely its just condensation?

Cheers.

Yeah because i have not driven the car any where over 5 mins. My cousin drove it all the way up from Torquay and im up in blackpool, so thats a good 400 miles and it was fine, no smoke, nothing. And he certainly gave it some on the way up. Thanks for your help mate, appreciate it.

I have no way of posting pics mate. Its really clean, tidy little car.

Its had the exhaust fitted, been lowered 40mm and has had a boost valve fitted. Got some fat Yokohama tires on it fitted to some 17" team dynamics alloys, nice polar white colour, window tints. Very happy with it.

Lol whats funny is that Americans are the ones who sound retarded when talking, British people are actually the ones who speak the proper English.
