Unhappy Headlight Yellowing/Moisture

Hey guys I'm new and have a question... I have a 99 Mirage De Coupe... I have noticed that my headlights are yellowish... and i think it might be moisture but I'm not sure... I have NO CLUE how to take the plastic front cover things off or if thats even possible... or even after I do that (if I can) how exactly do I clean them, check for leaks, etc...I really need someones help... you can email me @ [email protected]... even if you cant help me with that... maybe if you know where I can get some replacements for fairly cheap would help...

the yellow is oxidation, just take 1000 grit sand paper and sand them down til they are not yellow then clean them good with oxiclean or a good cleaner and then 1200 or 1500 grit to smooth it more then rinse them off and put clear coat on them as many coats as you want just make sure its not too humid where you spray cuz they'll fog up.

ok take the bulb out and take assembly out, there is clips on top and bottom take a flat head to the outside edge of the clip and pop them off, then take a heat gun or hair dryer(works but takes a while) and heat the lens up where it meets the assembly, pull on it, but let it come off easily dont pry it too much and chip it, and beware the sealant is lil messy, dry it out then heat it all up again and assemble it all, take a lil bit of sealant, silicone would be good and go around it coatin it well and that should be it.

a hella easier way than trying to disassemble the headlight is, once you remove the assembly from the car, just get a drill and drill a couple of small holes in the bottom (and/or top) of the headlight assembly so that the condesation that takes place has a place to exit the assembly. This will allow the headlight to dry out on it's own...

Re: Headlight Yellowing/Moisture

I own a 93 Thunderbird and cleaned my Headlight the easy way.

I used Soft Scrub (cleaning agent) and Liquid Gold (furniture polish)

My Right side head light was replaced and I can't afford to replace the Left side yet and it didn't pass inspection.

My left side was badly yellowed I couldn't see in side of it and it was so Dull looking.

I do have before and after pictures of this..

I covered the Headlight in Soft Scrub and let it dry before washing it off , The yellow just came right off. It still has a tint of yellow but I can now see in it and it looks clear and clean.
I sprayed Liquid Gold ( furniture polish on it and shined it up instead of Windex).

My car passed inspection and has been through a rain storm and still looks great.

The inspector asked me if it was a special replaced Headlight and if I was going to replace the other one as well.

Question Re: Headlight Yellowing/Moisture

Hello. My headlights are yellowed and want to clean them. Is the wet sanding method ok for glass, plastic, or both? I can't find a thread that says what type of headlight it is ok for. Thanks!
