Location of part

I replaced my cat on my car because the mass air flow sensor was messed up and didn't get it fixied until I could afford it. But since then I had the service engine light come on. So I took it to AutoZone and the computer said it was the O2 sensor so I bought both of them since I didn't know which one was out. Theres one at the exhaust manifold and after the cat. So after I replaced them and connected my battery but everytime my car is in park or neutral the engines rpm's go up and down from 500 to 1000 it does not stop (as if the car thinks its a hot rod) but when its in gear it idles fine. So I took it back to AutoZone to run it again and now it says the O2 sensors are getting low voltage but I checked and there plugged in good but a new thing popped up and it was the CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I've never heard of this but there were two types that AZ had one was 15 the other 30 bucks(she showed me both and they looked the same). They didn't know which one I needed so I got the 30 dollar one. Now where in the heck is this sensor located at? AZ didn't have a oldsmobile book nor did they know where it was at on my car....

Do you think that the new O2 sensors are bad or could this sensor make my rpms do this. Note the car runs perfectly fine other than the park or neutral idle..

Re: Location of part

well I found it and replaced it but it still has the check engine light on and still idles between 500-1000rpm in park and neutral. It's funny but I can smell my exhaust and it smells different then what it used to smell like(it's smelled weird for awhile now). So I took a sniff at the tail pipe and you can smell gas.. I don't know what to do. I guess I will take it to the shop and spend to much money again...

Re: Location of part

well I found the problem. AutoZone gave me the wrong O2 sensor. I had replaced about 300 dollars worth of crap and had taken it to a guy to see if he could fix it. But he couldn't so I took out the O2 sensor before the Cat. and noticed that the clip wasn't locking into place. So I looked at the harness for the wires and noticed that there are letters for each wire ( A, B, C, D ) on both ends to match up and I of course had them backwards but it wouldn't go on the right way. So I had to buy another one from the stealership for 100 bucks. And good ole AutoZone said they won't take back the one I bought because I already used it. Which is chicken sh!t........

Re: Location of part

Call Autozone's corporate office and demand a refund. They fugged up and gave you the wrong part whether it's used or not.
