Head unit+ speakers

I am going to be buying a new head unit and speakers for my '01 Forester. I have selected two combos I can afford. Also, in the near future, I plan on buying an amp/sub combo form eDesign. Which of these two packages do you guys think is better?

Panasonic MXE CQ-C5410U Head

Panasonic CJ-DD163 6.5" Speakers

$240

---------------------or-------------------------

Kenwood KDC-MPV5025 Head

Kenwood KFC-1669S 6.5" Speakers

Kenwood KFC-1069S 4" Speakers
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KbcTfYS...&avf=Y&search=

$250

Re: Head unit+ speakers

I personally would buy a Kenwood over a Panasonic. And Kenwood speakers are pretty good.

Re: Head unit+ speakers

I would take the Panasonic HU over the Kenwood, I don't like them at all. Bleh on both the speakers... What is your price range?

My price range is $250. I like the services offered by Crutchfield (free shipping, free install kits, customer support, etc) I would prefer not to buy off ebay unless the deal is really good. I know you guys will recomend an alpine head but what about speakers?

After really looking at the specs of that HU I realized the FM sensitivity of that Pioneer is only 8dbf. The Alpines and Kenwoods in the same price rane have 9.3dbf and Sanyos have 15!!! Does this number really matter? Is the difference so small it doesn't matter? Will it still have better reception than my factory radio?

Re: Head unit+ speakers

I suggest you go with the Pioneer HU from The Zeb. I just bought some subs from there and there shipping was quick as hell....I really don't like the choices you had for the speakers. But if I had to chose, I'd chose the Panasonic over the Ken's, just because *shrugs*
