How to take out Teg console...

do i have to take the whole end piece of the console off to change my shift knob/ boot in my 1996 rs teg? i tried today, but the piece around the boot wont pop out of the console, and i dont know how to do it. any help is appreciated, thanks.

I believe you do have to take off the end piece.

Yes, there are screws under the consol holding the boot in.

but how do i take the end piece off to get to those screws? thats what im stuck on..
