Good Sounding Exhausts

Which type of cat, header, and muffler combinations do you guys think sounds the best. some guys at my school have like completely riced out there 240's and most sound like a long continuous fart. I dont want my car to sound like a total piece of shit like their cars do. Im sure they probly bought their exhausts at autojunk (autozone) and that would most likely be the main reason they sound so horrible. I plan on getting the 240SX APEXi N1 Dual Series Cat Back Exhaust from this site http://www.modacar.com/products/Nissan/240SX/ANDSC

What do you guys think about this exhaust, would it sound good and not like the fart cans that the ricers at my school have?

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

Look around first.

www.nipponpower.com
www.jgycustoms.com
www.240sxmotoring.com
www.cipmotorsports.com
www.phase2motortrend.com

Those are just a few. Look on our FAQ page for some more. I have the Apexi N1 and it sound really good. Its only loud if you punch it, but not ricey loud. If it is too loud for you, order a silencer. I've heard lots of good things about the duals and they do sound pretty good. Its Apexi, countless hours of research. One of the biggest names in the industry. That exhaust only comes for 240s and rx-7s so I would imagine it was basically designed around the car. No worries, it will sound a lot better than those shit-cans from Autozone. Welcome to AF. Read the guidelines, the FAQ, and have fun.

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

Good choice. N1 duel cat backs produce low/deep sound. what kind of car do you have?

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

My N1 single sounds awesome with the silencer now. I don't know why I didn't get it to begin with.

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

on n/a the duals are fairly loud, but a good choice just remember if you want silencers you have to buy two of them, and the exhaust isn't stainless steel so it will start to rust in a few months.

my brother's shop has great mangle bent pipes, and then make custom pipes for cars. so, i was wondering other than silencers how could i keep my car quiet. right now i haven't done my swap and i have 2 1/2 cat back exhaust it gets kinda loud on the highway. since i will be swapping hoepfully by the end of the month when we make my exhaust is there anything i should do specifically to make it quiet? i don't mind using a silencer just curious on what else i can do.

i have a custom 2 1/4 cat back straight piping to a magnaflow universal aluminized steel muffler. and i also have the Greddy SP cat back..my custom setup sounds deep like the greddy sp but a lil louder and theres no rasphy pinch to it as you can hear on most ricers who throw some 20 dollar muffler on.
The only reason i got the custom set up was for the stock look..as law enforcement here in CA could care less if Greddy was 50 state legal, or dont even know what a CARB EO number is..well hey, just another 10 dollar fix ticket for me

actually the Duals are one of the quieter exhaust systems for an NA/KA, especially with that size piping. They sound deep but it really isn't that loud, the n1 single is much louder and annoying on a NA KA...

now if the question was turbo power... buy a 3" downpipe, have your friend at the muffler shop make a 3" pipe with no cat or muffler and dump it out somewhere...straight pipe... straight pipes on turbos OWN

i'd love to do that with my swap, but my state requires yearly inspections. though i am 91 i still have to pass emisssions and that is really the only thing i need to pass emissions. hmm, maybe i will just set up so that before my inspections swap in a cat pipe. i will look into that. so you think 3 inch exhaust with a rb20det will be relativly quiet with a nice deep purr to it?

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

How is that GP sports exhaust Logikal? I don't really see that one for sale too many places.

Re: Good Sounding Exhausts

the apexi gt spec sounds great, if you like race style mufflers.

if you want a smoother quieter sound the tanaba is very nice.

gp sports was garbage, i dont even have it anymore. it friggin cracked and left me with a bad exhaust leak (people thought i had turbo that week). now i just got custom piping and used the muffler from the spec-d.
