This morning I went out to start my v6 r1998 rodeo and it would not start, I thought maybe I had killed it by leaving the lights on but this was not the case. I got the car jump started and started down the road. My ABS light and cel come on and the car kept stuttering, I pulled back up to my house and of course it will not start again. I tried to reset the computer by taking off the hot wire for 15 minutes and cleaning the terminals nothing. However when I turn the ignition key on my cel and abs both flash really quick continuously and there is a clicking from the fuel pump relay under the hood. I switched the realy after determing it was the same part as other ones and got the same result. Any ideas?

Re: Fuel pump relay clicking
Your battery is bad. Isuzu don't like strange voltage.

Ok
I can buy that because it was dead this morning, however when I got it jump started and started down the street could the battery still be causing problems while running?

I am going to go take the battery down to advanced auto to have them check it at lunch but the fact remains that I really dont know..... what uses the battery while the car is running? I might be an idiot but I thought that you only used the battery when you were starting the car or when the negine is off.

Re: Fuel pump relay clicking
Well thanks for confirming my suspicions, yes it appears it was the battery causing all those faults. At least with the new battery they are gone at the moment. I am still confused a little by what the battery does after the genrator takes over though. Mainly because after it was jumped and I rode around the block if I hit over 3000 RPM botht he tachometer and the speedometer would drop to 0 and then go bak up once I left the 3000 area, and the ABS lite was continuosly on and the CEL would flash on every once in a while. I find this very wierd.

Re: Fuel pump relay clicking
It's not what the battery does, per say, after the engine's started. It's just the mere fact that the truck can sense "something's" wrong with it's electrical voltage.
These trucks crave good strong voltage consistently, and are VERY picky about it!! That's one thing I've for sure learned myself this summer, and they also hate refurbished alternators!!
