Will 225/45/17 fit my 96" Accord or not?!
Hey guys... I tried asking in the Tires/Wheels section but no one seems to know.. maybe I'm better off here since we're all Accords. From what I understand... reading online says not to change your tire size more then 3% from your original size. A 225/45/17 would calculate a 3.05% difference! I was wondering if anyone out there has these size tires on the same generation Accord or if there are any tire experts out there that have the resources to tell me if they would fit or not. I know 215/45/17 are recommended, but I was looking for a tire with a little bit more meat on it... The car isn't lowered anymore and I'm not really looking for an aggressive tire.. I want more of a comfortable ride.
THanks, MIke

You should not have a problem with this tire size...i too have seen many accords w 215/45/17 on them without trouble and we're really only talking 10mm wider and 4.5mm taller(in radius so i guess 9mm taller overall) than that tire. The 3% your seeing most likely has more to do with not changing the overall tire diameter than a clearance problem. If you the more you change the overall diameter of the tire the more off your speedometer will be...but the tires your talking about won't change it that much...i don't see that it will be a problem.

just a thought i had...you said your car was no longer lowered right? If it is lowered you may need to have the inside edge of the fenders rolled to make the extra space...i would think as long as you have the appropriate offset you shouldn't get any fender rub but that may be why everyone uses 215's...good luck finding someone who actually has 225's

Re: Will 225/45/17 fit my 96" Accord or not?!
I am contemplating this same tire size setup for my 95 Accord EX. I have a 1.5 inch drop front and rear so I'm going to have to be careful.
