engine/car dies...

I have a problem with my car where it dies sometimes when I come to a stop. Sometimes while slowing down preparing to stop at stop sign the car sort of hesitates, like its struggling to stay alive unless I accelerate again, and sometimes itll just die. This has happened before and it wouldn't start, and this was cause of ignition. So spark, ignition, fuel pump/filter, all looks good, but it still does this. Could it just be I'm low on gas? Any suggesstions or related problems...

Re: engine/car dies...

probally a bad idle sensor, if this car is a multiport car could be a bad airmass flo sensor

well what kind of engine is it? if its a fuel injected engine, there is a diagnostic port on the bottom of your dash. if you were setting in the car the plug would be mounted right above your right leg. you cant miss it! take a paper clip and stick both ends into the A and B slots. then turn your key to the on position. (DO NOT start it with the paper clip in the slots!) then your check engine light will flash a code to you. depending on the year and engine in your car, get me the code and i should be able to tell you whats wrong.

hmm thats strange! what kind of gas do you run in it? may need a fresh tank of 92 octane and a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner

I'd check the idle air control valve. Don't rule out the ignition being a problem again. If there is something causing it to fail prematurely you can have a repeat problem. As suggested before you may have to check the mass air flow sensor. Note the temperature that the problem happens, how long the engine has been on. Some of the early TPIs had a faulty ECM, but I'm not sure that your's would fall under that. I'll try and get some more info on some of these sensors and let you know if there is anything you can check yourself. Good luck
