Re: top speed problem

there is a governor, you need to find your ecm and find a black and white wire, that should be the wire for the governor. you can splice in a switch or just cut the wire and clip the ends.

Re: top speed problem

No such thing as a Governor on our cars gismo, there is however something that effects every single car out there, wind resistance, that can easily keep you from going very fast, as well as what RPM your shifting in.

Re: top speed problem

Which year and model Integra do you have? I have a stock '92 GS-R and this past July I did a little over a two mile stretch doing 120 on the expressway and it felt like it had a few more mph in her. If you're maxing out at 100 mph, with the mods you've done, then either you're driving against the wind during a huricane, or something is wrong.

LS Trannies have considerably longer gearing than the 92-93 GSR, so that could be the difference there.

Re: top speed problem

I dont find a reason to go 130 mph down the expressway. Nothing special about it only death.
Now if you were to do 130 in a 1/4 then that might be something to talk about. Personally im glad you guys cant make it over 100 or 110. Dont mean to sound rude or anything, just speakin the truth.

Re: top speed problem

One way to test if you are really hitting the governor, nexttime try it downhill. Once you hit the limit set by the govenor your fuel and spark will cut out and the car will coast down 5-10 mph before you get any power back. It will feel like you just fucked something up big time and then it will drive normally up to the limit again and the cycle repeats until you get in there and do some ecu work.

i have heard that, but i have never seen it. if you ask me i think that would be hazardous. (not that going 130 isnt). If you personally ask me i think it could be 1 of two things. it could be your horsepower. there is a word that comes into my mind. terminal velocity. just take that word and think about what it means. maybe thats the top engine horspower and speed that it can go against withought having to deal with wind resistance. another is a govener. they dont want your dumbass to go past a certain mph because your tires will go out. If you ask me, i love going about 130mph...its fun. But your tires cant stand that so they will blow out. that is why they have different ratings for tires. I think that our tires on the integra are H's (meaning cant go past 130mph). But my friend has a saab 900se turbo, and we were going 145 and still going - his speedometer ends at like 155mph too. i didnt check wat tires he has on his car. but with a turbo, your hp doesnt really have a "terminal velocity", thats what i think - it is possible that it does, but not until you get to the higher mph. another reason is wind resistance. you might not think so, but it has to do A LOT with your speed. also your drag coeficient(aerodynamics). and your transmission gears. it has to do with a TON of things. with my car i have only been able to get to around 125mph. then it just doesnt go any farther. but i did a calculation - if i got rid of my govener (if that was the case) i would be able to do around 158mph at 7000rpm's. sounds like fun. thats my hope you got a little better understanding of what i meant. not all of you will journey through my long and boring passage. lol
