Re: Anybody have Doom2?

I do have the game, but it's scratched to hell (I threw the disc on the roof once) and not installed on this computer

Pretty sure the game is freeware now, just download a new copy.
(It wouldn't be illegal anyway, you already purchased the game)

If you still need a copy, let me know the email address you want it at and I'll zip it up and send it to you.

Re: Anybody have Doom2?

ugh... I downloaded it from that link (thanks jonno) and the music is all midi-sounding and with sfx turned on it runs super slow and choppy for some reason. I wish I had my 486 again so this game would work right I wonder why the music sounded better and everything worked right on older machines?

Yeah, those 486s and even 386s are deffinitely faster than Pentium 4s.

Re: Anybody have Doom2?

Mainly because a lot of games of that era depend on clock speed and a few other variables to run correctly. Ever played the original lemmings on a P4? Or space invaders? Things just shoot across the screen before you can respond.

Re: Anybody have Doom2?

You can get software that slows your clock down (if your MB allows it) and you can get programs with emulate old machines, but they require some pretty indepth knowledge to make them work, and theres no garuntee they will work, with out stuffing something up.
