f150 carbonized spark plugs, bad computer?

I have had problems with my 89 f-150 300. First problems with the interior pumps and the the spark plugs going black. I have solved the gas pumps. But I still have the plugs going carbon black. The Tec says that I have a bad Computer. Does that sound OK, what else can I look at. And where can I buy a good used computer?? Would you asvise going that way. I plan on keeping the TRUCK for a few more years.

Re: f150 carbonized spark plugs, bad computer?

I Dont know what the hell interior pumps are. But my 93 F150 ran rich turned the plugs black I changed the coolant temperature senser for 20.00 dollars at Advaced auto parts fixed my problem. This senser is right next to the thermostat. you will need to drain aproximently 1 gallon from your radiator. PS mine is the 302 so your may be different. I do know one thing most mechcanics have become relaint on check engine lights because thay are trained that way. No check engine light = bad ECM, NOT SO!

I mean the fuel pumps inside the gas tanks. This car didn't even have a thermostat, perhaps for this very reason. ??!! Thanks. I will review my truck for what you said.
