reborn transmission
after having hard shift problems on my just bought 94 GC, went the overhaul route , still had hard unpredictable shift , after having to deal with trans pan gasket leaks from poor mechanic, decided to pull the pan myself , found a large used plastic gasket , on top of the old fiber gasket , 2 for the price of none ..the plastic gasket cooled at night , shrunk a bit and allowed fluid to seep out .......replaced the proper single gasket , and while i was at it replaced the devron 3 fluid everyone wants to stick in , because it s cheap,.. with the much touted here ..
chrysler ATF+3....and experienced a miracle in trans shift smoothness, amazing what a difference in fluid type makes .....I could have saved a lot of money and time if I just tried to change the fluid /filter/gasket , with the proper ATF, hope some can save hard earned money from my experience with it ...... |

If you had a total change to the dextron ATF previously and still experience problems after this latest change, it might help to flush the old oil out at the cooler line and refill with more of the ATF+3. another upgrade on some of these transmissions is the installation of a different regulator valve that will allow more lube flow to the transmission and through the cooler in park. The stock valve restricts flow in park and increases it in neutral. Thats one reason they recommend to check the ATF in neutral. JD |
