Engine cranks but no start

I just replaced the ignition switch and ignition lock cylinder in my '88 Camaro and now the thing won't start! The engine cranks away but it won't start. I have checked the factory manual and there is no info about my problem.

I also can't shift out of park to at least tow the car home with my truck.

I fixed two problems to get two more! Help, please?

did ya get both connectors plugged back into the slide switch?
there's a cable the goes from the switch to the gear shifter that wont let you start the car in drive, and wont let you turn it completely off unless it's in neutral or park, i think you gotta problem there.

if the key is in the "on" position you should be able to change gears

if you have the key in the on position and you can't change gears its probably an ignition switch problem, my dad's el camino had a similar problem w/ it turning over but not starting, it was his ignition switch it wasn't engaging the fuel pump or the EFI computer (my dad put efi on his el camino). i guess its possible that all of it could be the switch, just a guess tho...

Thanks, I'm putting the old switch back to see if I can shift with it. The problem with the cranking but not starting happened after I changed the ignition lock cylinder but before I changed the switch, though.
