Re: Soled out

Well, my opinion is probably biased, but del sol all the way. My experiences with Hondas have been a lot better than what I've heard of people's experiences with Mitsubishis. Another thing is that the Del Sol is much rarer than the eclips, automatically making it cooler. Targa top = cool. Personally, I would get a Del Sol (and did) but like I said this is a Del Sol forum so the opinions will probably be biased.

Re: Soled out

del sol = more fun

eclipse = more practical.

Del sol has:
--Pretty good power out of the box for DOHC VTEC models, very good speed potential
--massive trunk
--Chicks dig the convertible
--get an S model for $1500, keep your insurance down, put b18 in.

sol doesn't have:
--backseat
--ability to stay dry in heavy storms
--AWD option
--a whole heck of a lot of interior space.
--6cylinder option (not sure if eclipse does either...)

So it's up to you.... I personally would take the sol over the eclipse any day, but then again I've had 2 sols and love the cars more with each day (ok ok so I'm obsessed to a pathetic level)

About as useful as most 2+2 vehicles. That is to say, not very. Difficult to even ram a 20"+ TV in, much less a person.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I've never had any trouble with the seals on my 96 S even in severe rain/snowstorms. The only time the interior has seen water was that time I left the back window down overnight and it snowed nothing bad ultimately resulted, at least!

IIRC that was only on the GS-X, which is a turbo model.

Heh. I don't think either car is going to do so hot here, really.

Nope, not until the 2000-current models. IIRC all of the non-turbo Eclipses are based around a 140hp DOHC 2.0L 4-cylinder.

I'd say either car is really a good choice. I love my del Sol (the S trim has to be the most fun you can have with a 40MPG+ hwy vehicle) and I have friends who love their Eclipses (the D32 is one of my favorite-looking stock cars). Neither car is terribly practical, though.
