Check Engine Light and Loss of Acceleration

Yesterday my check engine light came on and I suddenly had very low acceleration. I stopped, checked all the fluids and hoses and couldn't visibly see anything wrong. When I started the car again, the light was off and everything seemed fine. I drove the car home and then to work this morning (round trip of 50 miles) with no problems.

When I took the car out for lunch it was fine, but when I left the restaurant about 10 minutes later, the engine light came on and I lost acceleration again.

The odometer is at 60,830; just past the bumper-to-bumper warranty. I don't want to incur a huge repair bill if this is a simple fix. Any suggestions?

Re: Check Engine Light and Loss of Acceleration

no way around it you have to have someone read the comes . by what your saing it sounds like the transaxil is going into failsafe IE stuck in 3rd gear and when you turned the car off and restart it it goes back to normal until the tcu see a problem and then you go back into fail safe .

Re: Check Engine Light and Loss of Acceleration

I am also facing same problem from last three weeks. The local person suggested me to change the Gas Cap, after changing that, car was really doing good, but suddenly a week later, after changing the gas cap, it gives a jerk and then I can feel the loss of acceleration. Any one has any update on this...
