1998 Monte Carlo LS Leaking Gas

Hi, we've recently found that my girlfriend's 1998 Monte Carlo LS has been leaking gas. What could be the cause of this problem and how can it be fixed? We're going to take it into the shop but just don't want to be ripped off.

Thanks in advance!

Re: 1998 Monte Carlo LS Leaking Gas

Could be anything from something she ran over knocked a hole in the gas tank to leaking seal at a fuel line connection, to a hole rubbed or knocked into a fuel line........

hey thanks for responding. after taking it to the shop we found that the tank had rusted so much that there was a hole in it. we had to replace the fuel tank. $400 for part and labor. yeesh.
