Just got used eclipse 99 RS 5-speed

I just bought a used 99 RS eclipse and I want to start to speed it up its. I am not very good at car macanics and car lingo. What i am looking to do is up the torque. I was thinking about maybe a new exaust system not sure if that would up the torque alot though. If anyone knows any fairly cheap upgrades for torque i am willing to listen and please try to put it in lingo i can understand. Thanks

Auctly that would reduse torque, It gives you more top end hp.

Get a cold air intake and some really light rims.

The main first, cheap, upgrades are intake (metal pipe bigger than stock, and cone filter instead of an airbox) and exhaust, which is self explanatory.. usually only from the cat-back.

Re: Just got used eclipse 99 RS 5-speed

yeah an exhaust doesnt add torque at all.. i believe high backpressure (aka restrictive exhaust?) has something to do with making more torque but i would imagine you would just about kill your top end power if you do that.. and common thats what keeps us nt guys alive lol.. but yeah you can get a nice cheap "cold" air intake on ebay for like 30 bucks shipped or maybe less...

Re: Just got used eclipse 99 RS 5-speed

bigger exhaust nearly always kills low end torque on NAs in my experience... like joe said, an intake is your best bet...then an after-cat exhaust setup... (lol, bclipse, Im straining to go the save-n-sell route but I'm biting my tingue, hahaha, but hey, I was an NA guy for 2 years too)
