Question UK Honda Civic Illusion Problem

Hello there I'm a new member with a bit of a problem!

Last night when driving home the handbrake light on the dash lit up red as if the handbrake had been left on.
I checked the handbrake and it was down fully.
The handbrake light now comes on when accelerating in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear.
I haven't touched any electrics or wiring but this is a really weird problem.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or had this problem before?

The car is a 98 UK S reg 3 door hatchback 1.4i Illusion Edition

Many Thanks For Any Advice

How dumb am I, panic over.....................

It was nothing more worrying than just needing to top up the brake fluid
