E60 Software Upgrade

I was just thinking... a lot of functions on the E60 must be software-only. For example, you may get speech recognition for phone only as standard. But I'm thinking, to get speech recognition for other functions in the car this must boil down to a simple software upgrade? Maybe a CD update? Does anyone know how the software is upgraded/modified, as I'd REALLY like to get speech recognition for more functions such as the radio! Had i known when I bought the car I would have got this extra...

Welcome to Chris Bangles BMW five series World $$$! I own a new 2004 530i, and I want speech recognition also, but I am told it is one of a BMW dealer options $$$ and to get out my checkbook.

I checked for a price on the cell phone and cradle, software, and BMW told me it would cost just a little over a $1000.00 dollars, and yes it will require the software to work with my idrive. (just $1000.00 dollars, I cannot believe these Bimmer salesmen, LOL)
