Hearing different things about rebuilding or replacing trans in a 96 Town and country. Starting to leak now with 111K miles...I figure do the work now since it must be removed to replace pump seal. Any thoughts/advice on either replacing with factory unit, or rebuilding at trans shop..? I know, use the atf+3 7176 from the dealer. thanks.

Re: 96 T&C rebuild or replace?
Rebuild at a trans shop. A factory unit will give you the same problems you are having now. I had a 97 and had it rebuilt. The parts in the rebuild included upgrades that the factory unit will not have. Although if you just have a leaking seal you may be wise just to replace the seal and wait for the trans to crap out before replacing.
