turbooo

how much horsepower you think i would have if i got a t28 bb turbo, larger fuel rail, exhaust, 550cc fuel injectors, intercooler, and everything else you normally get for a turbo. assuming everything on my 93 240 is stock..

Re: turbooo

Not enough info. Probably won't need 550cc. SR 370s would do the trick and they fit the stock fuel rail. If you were to run 7psi, you would make around 220hp plus or minus 10 at the crank and around 200whp. Larger fuel rail is not needed. Kinda a small turbo for the KA, but you would make full boost at about 2000rpm maybe less with a BB.

Re: Re: turbooo

you just forgot the safc to get the ecu to recognise the bigger injectors.. as hp wise maybe 220whp if you are lucky

Re: turbooo

I would suggest like a T3 off of a Z31. If not that, then a T3/T04E 50trim with a .63ar turbine housing. The bigger the turbine ar, the slower the turbo runs and later you make power. Different trims determine where the turbo is efficient. The bigger the compressor ar, the more the turbo will flow. You will have to read more on these in one of the two books I posted earlier. Don't get anything big because the more the turbo flows, the more power you will make. For example, a T04B will make x amount of power at 7psi, while a T28 will make x amount of power at 14psi. These are hypothetical numbers, but you get the point. Safe boost depends on the compression of the engine and a judgement by you. How well does the engine run? People have turboed some pretty high mileage engines and have had good results. This doesn't mean you will, but good tuning and care before, during, and after will definately be helpful if you want this to work. 5psi from a decent sized T3 will require no fuel or ignition mods and will provide somewhere around 169whp. This seems small, but remember, your car right now is only putting 124whp down if it is making factory hp. Some mods you might want to think about are a walbro 255lph fuel pump, 300zx fuel filter, NGK plugs, 3"catback is good for a turbo setup, cone filter, new o2 sensor, and all the other tune up stuff. Your best bet for an engine is to rebuild while you run this one w/5psi. All you really need to do is add some forged pistons and take it out about 0.0020". The crank and rods are forged and can take somewhere around 18psi maybe more. Stock injectors max out around 200whp. Stock MAFS maxes around 250whp. Thanks for the heads up Turbo2nr. I was reading in about the SAFCII. It has 12 ne tuning points and a deceleration menu(good for hotwire MAFS cars like ours to run vent-to-atmosphere BOV). It sounds like it is pretty good. Hope I helped.

Re: Re: turbooo

nissanfanatic.....dude....I'm quite impressed....I rarely leave my happy home that is the Past Z Cars forum and when I do, I usually run into idiots and quickly recoil back to my happy home. I ventured into this forum just for the hell of it and was quite impressed by your post. Seems like you know your shit reasonably well when it comes to turbos which is very good to see. I love to see people that know and embrace turbos as opposed to the mojority of people that seem to see slapping a belt driven supercharger on an engine as a cure-all miracle power adder. Turbos are far superior to S/Cs. It's just really good to see someone else who knows their shit when it comes to turbos.

But....you do know that the Z31 turbos can only boost up to 15psi, right? You recommend a Z31 turbo in this thread and I don't really think it would be all that good of a swap...unless, of course, you only plan on being able to boost to 15psi. I think this would be put to more use for you 240 guys, but I have a Z31T and that just won't cut it for me. I think you guys in the 240sx community can make better use out of my turbo, so, if anyone would like my turbo, please let me know...I'm looking to upgade. I'd like to see it put to good use so I could get a bigger turbo. We might be able to work something out...send me a PM or e-mail.

Re: turbooo

I appreciate it. That is a nice looking car man. I said use the Z31 because it won't flow enough at 5psi to require fuel upgrades but you can always push it to 15psi like you said and put out respectable power. It would be a good street turbo which would spool rather fast. One guy on 240sxforums is using one and he had full boost at I think 3k maybe lower. He was getting rid of his because he reached full boost too soon. One of you guys who is looking for a turbo should really hit longlivethez up.

Thank you, sir. I never really thought about it, but it would be a good match for a 240sx. It spools stupidly fast and it puts out enough to do some good work in a smaller, lighter car like the 240sx. But yea...if anyone wants it, lemme know...I could use the cash right now.

Re: turbooo

This is a good turbo for you guys who don't wanna upgrade the fuel system and put out around 190hp. Easy one to install.
