Question Question about a sensor on the dash

I just bought this 1992 Vette and the is a sensor on the face of the dash just to the left of the fuel info button... when I bought the car it was covered with electrical tape and I never saw it.... it blended right in. Does anybody know what this sensor is, what does it do and does anybody know why someone would want to cover it with electrical tape?

Thank You

Re: Question about a sensor on the dash

look in the owners manual. it shows a detailed view of instruments and warning lights on the dash.

if you dont have one...go to a dealer..they should have one.

the manual doesn't cover it and the dealer has no idea, They won't let me talk to any of the techs either so I thought I would check here.
Thanks anyway
