Lightbulb Oil Pressure Indication Light

My Oil Pressure Indication Light Flickers On And Off When The Engine Is Idling In Drive At A Stoplight After The Engine Has Been Running For A While. I Have Recently Had An Oil & Filter Change And Was Wondering If This Could Be An Oil Pressure Switch Or Possible The Oil Pump??

the best solution would be to install a manual gauge and checked oil pressure...

Had a dealer look at it and replaced the oil sender unit and light still flickers. Oil pressure is normal when ignition is turned. When car warms up to normal temp. oil pressure drops to 4 lbs. Any advice from here??

Let me guess...you have the 2.7L engine? My wife's Concorde is going through the same thing right now. It is in the shop and they have replaced sending unit, pressure sensor & the filter....all just after doing an oil change. Light stays on when engine is warm and stopped but still in gear.
Turns out, the 2.7L has known problems with this. The more research you do the more you will see that people are having complete engine failures. Chrysler is not doing anything about it however!

Re: Oil Pressure Indication Light

Katana, wondering when you got your recall for the oil pressure light? I am having the same problems. Thanks much.

I went through the same issue with my 2.5L... First off is the oil sending unit the same as oil pressure sensor? Mine was coming on while at an idle and when you gas it the light would go away.

I went ahead and had a shop check the oil pressure and it was fine (oil level was fine too of course) despite the dash light going on... so I picked up a spare sensor and was trying to pull it off until I realized there are special oil sending unit sockets you have to buy... so I went back and I just reseated the connector to the sensor and ever since then, the oil pressure light hasn't come back to haunt me. FYI be careful pulling off the connector as it was really brittle and I busted the tab on mine.

Perhaps the issue with the oil change connection is someone smacked the sensor with a rachet? Happens all the time on the mr2 where the O2 sensor is literally 2 inches away from the oil filter...

Thanks - HB

Re: Oil Pressure Indication Light

It's the oild pressuer sending unit. I had mine replaced a few years ago and all was well. It just started to come on again so I'll repalce it for about $40.00.

Thumbs up Re: Oil Pressure Indication Light

This is an old post but wanted to let people know that I had the same problem with my 2.7 v6 Sebring and found out the oil switch/sensor was leaking oil into the connection and shorting out the connection, thus giving a false indication that the oil pressure was low. It only did this when the engine was warmed up and idling at a stop light. Replaced the switch and the leak stopped and the light is now off.

Re: Oil Pressure Indication Light

Many people have this issue. I changed more than one oil sending unit to no avail. However after much research, the 2.7 has a gumming up issue. Ran to oil changes with a Rislone treatment and still the same problem. However, pulled the oil pan, took down the oil pick up tube and cleaned out the junk that was in there. It has been 2 weeks and so far so good. Wait and see til the summer time I guess.

Re: Oil Pressure Indication Light

Same thing on our 2004 convt. Dealer said it was nothing. Did engine flush and synthetic oil. Engine seized on hwy with in a 120 mile span. Owned car for month and hlf. Dealer refuses to call us back. Pursuing legal action and class action with Chrysler. Once light starts to flicker, it's over!
