SRT-4 Vs. Civic Si

I am currently in the process of purchasing / browsing for a new car.
Im kinda on the side of buying a new car, either the Civic Si or the SRT-4
I also am interested in a 1996 TT Supra targa top, which is a beauty ha
But i want some opinions on SRT-4 vs Civic Si

Re: SRT-4 Vs. Civic Si

ask this in a civic forum you can't expect no biased anwsers try car compare fourms.

In my book the faster but much much shistyer SRT-4 isn't worth getting. And being a neon deep down inside it still has an anal didlo attached to the drivers seat.

the SI isn't a bad car low on power in my book looks need to have CTR kit so its less frumpy but a better allround car

SRT-4 is getting alot of hype being the best bang for buck but just cause its cheap doesn't mean its good.

Re: SRT-4 Vs. Civic Si

If it was the SRT-4 vs the Honda Civic Type R that would be a different story. Have you ever driven an SRT-4? It's frickin fast - I don't care if it's still a Neon or not it's FRICKIN fast!

We have two guys co-driving an SRT-4 in our autocross series and they give the Type R guys a run for their money.

Re: SRT-4 Vs. Civic Si

I'd go with the SRT-4 crazy ass torque, upgrade a stock turbo is always better then an aftermarket. The SRT engine is made to handle what you throw at it. Also hooking one of those up is less common then a civic. I think everyone on the planet has a civic. Drive them both see which feels better. I drove both and wanted the SRT but the insurace would have killed me.

Dont get me wrong I love my civic its just slow/common/theres always one better then yours.

Plus the power you get for you money is nuts too. 250hp for about $20,000. Can't do that with a Civic. Then you can get different stages each stage less than $1000 if I remember right from SCC.

True, there are many upgrade paths available for the SRT-4 from the Chylser/Dodge perfromance division, Mopar. I actaully remember that SCC article. Considering the stage upgrade kits for the SRT-4 are mopar products, it wouldn't be too hard to find out the exact prices before you bought the car. If someones seruiosly intersted in finding out the prices, either look one of the Mopar stores, or get ahold of the mopar catalog, or look it up on their site, etc.

If you have the chance to get the Supra, get it. But as far as the SRT-4 vs. the Si, it all comes down to --surprise surprise-- which one you'd rather drive.
All the people in this forum like their Civics (duh) but facts are facts, and the SRT-4 blows the Si out of the water when it comes to performance right out of the box. Both have even more of an upside when it comes to performance mods (with the Stage 2 High Octane turbo upgrade the SRT-4 is putting out 280 hp and 300 ft-lbs of torque), but the thing that would sway me is reliability. A Civic is rock solid in that department, and while the SRT-4 is one hell of a performer, it's still a Dodge Neon, and i'll leave it at that.
The best thing you can do is take them both out for a test drive and choose the one that you like most. You have to drive the car, not us (though i'd love to take an SRT-4 out for a spin some day).

True its a monster. I've driven it before. BUT.. The only thing is that its a NEON. Reliablity won't be as good as honda either my friend.

Well, here is where you start comparing the nitty-gritty, so to speak. The SRT-4 is fast. Hands down. Saw a woman (not trying to offend any women racers out there) in an SRT-4 take out a TT Supra, Bullit Stang, a Stang Cobra, and another car with ease. Mind you, she is the fastest shifter in three states (MS, LA, AL), and has never lost. But that car is not stock in the least. She brought it home from the dealership and pulled the motor out. So, she knew what she was doing.

I really haven't heard alot about the new Civic... So, I am not going to make any comments on that.

Hope this helps, and I'm not afraid of flames.

Re: SRT-4 Vs. Civic Si

SRT-4 will kill a stock Civic. The Civic is by far more reliable. But I think the Neon is ugly as hell, not that the Si is much better looking. Test drive them both; that's the only logical way to make a decision. But if you want more opinions then you should post in the Car Comparison board if you haven't already.
