The D15b2 engine is in any 88-91 Civic (sedan, hatchback, or crx) Dx or Lx

Can you guys tell me if it would be worth it to get a custom turbo kit for the engine or just engine swap it for one of the d16's in my 90 civic hb. thanks for the advice in advance.

i would swap to d16a6 AND turbo it!

just change over to mpfi then turbo it. Theres a lot of work and tuning to do though if your going turbo and want to do it right. do some reading.

Im getting a full custom exuast, and it has a cold air intake already
soon to get an mpfi swap later.. is there anything else that can be done to get some life outta this thing, or should i just get another type of engine?

If I was to keep my stock d15b2 engine in my 90 civic hb and get the SI fuel injection system to put into it would it be worth it.If so can someone direct me to a place to buy one. thanks

yeah mpfi (Si) fuel injection (multi port fuel injection) would be worth it. Check ebay and watch the classifieds here on this forum for one. You will need intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors, resistor box, distributor, ecu, and partial wiring harness (for the injectors).

That's prolly the best thing you can do for the lowly d15b2 engine. It isn't a bad motor (I drive the crap out of mine and it has 226K miles on it), but it is really meant as an economy engine since it has DPFI (dual-point) - fortunately, if you get the MPFI setup from an Si/EX (d16a6), you can get almost as much power out of the d15b2 as you get with the d16a6...you'll feel it with the butt dyno, but it won't be 20hp. If you don't have enough money for an engine swap, go MPFI on your d15b2...then later on, if you decide to swap a different engine in, you've already done the wiring to accept an MPFI engine.

Just remember...making your car go faster is an ongoing process..that's why they are called projects

I have some questions reguarding the parts needed to do an mpfi swap.

Can you add the Intake manifold to a DX engine (D15b2) without any modifications?

I recently seen a gold plated AEM one on ebay for auction and like it and was wondering if that would work after getting the other parts.

Is the distributor on an SI different from a DX model?

Does anyone have an idea what all theses parts can add up to in cost buying them used vs. new?

yes the intake bolts on without modifications, aftermarket one would work also. You will need the throttle body witch is not mentioned above. If you buy an aftermarket manifold it wont come with any of the sensors, usually used OEM ones will come with most if not all of the sensors. The distributors are differnt because of the differnt fuel injection. You can get them all used for around $150, new would be alot, probably 4 times that.
