Question on converting a R32 GTS

Hello all. I have been reading this forum for a couple weeks now, but just now signed up. Anyway, my question is this: Is it possible to buy a r32 GTS and eventually convert it to a GTR with swaps? Or would it be stupid to even consider it? The initial shock of $30k kinda hurts...

My only real way is through MotoRex and I work at Toys R Us so buying a GTR is a little out of the question right now. But if I can eventually do swaps and make a GTS into a GTR, I think it might be worth it. I make enough to pay my car payment, my insurance, and my scool loan payments. I have done the calculations, and it looks like with a GTS-T, I would have the same insurance rate, just a higher car payment. Thats kinda my reasoning for wanting to go with a GTS for now... And I keep seeing threads about MotoRex halting importation on R34's, but I see other threads saying its all Skylines. Just confused.

(edited for capitalization)

ok... bad wording on my part... So it is just the OBDII cars? Good. Hopefully Iwill have a chance to call Motorex or RBand ask them a couple questions about the cars and the process...

I had the scariest feeling... Anyway, just got off the phone with Progressive, got a quote for a Skyline GTR, which the closest comparable car would be a 300ZX2+2(...) and said it would be only $157 a month. After I realized this was $30 cheaper than what I'm paying for my 2001 Focus... I think I might try to spring for at minimum the GTS-T...

So get the T and put the gtr engine in it then do the tranny etc until its a full blown gtr.

Thank you all...

That was kinda my original plan, but since insurance is so cheap on all of the r32's... htat kinda made my decision for me. One last question. Motorex doesnt have a price listed for a GTS-T. Would you happen to know a ballpark figure? I'm trying my hardest to stay under the $300 a month range. Thank you everyone for the help. I really appreciate it.

Re: Question on converting a R32 GTS

I have a 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS I was considering converting to a 1964.5 Mustang. Do you think it will work? Would it be a waste of $?

Ok. I called Motorex today. The lady that I talked to was unable to give me a price for a GTS-T. She also told me that no import orders will be taken til the end of the year. Then she informed me it would be easier if I bought the car first, then had them do the work on it. Sounds a little odd to me...

Re: Question on converting a R32 GTS

I was gonna do the exact same thing if I couldn't get a GT-R, swapping the engine into the GTS.
