Help in making this swap work,Carb block to tbi block
My 84 2.8 carb block is damaged(spun rod). I bought a 2.8 tbi(don't know the year or where it came out of) from a salvage yard. The 2.8 tbi's block is in excellent condition although the #3 exhaust valve guides on the head is shot. The carb 2.8 has a mechanical fuel pump the tbi 2.8 doesn't. For the most the blocks are identical, except for the mechanical fuel pump boss. Oil pans, intact manifold, carb vs tbi, A.I.R. inlets on the exhaust manifold, and belt arrangements are the only differences that I can see. Can I use a electric fuel pump to make this block an exchange from tbi to carb?

I would think so.
Check out this web page http://users.spec.net/home/emxjc/performance.html and I'm sure that you will find plenty of help on the subject |

Re: Help in making this swap work,Carb block to tbi block
Yes But You Will Need To Purchase A Fuel Pressure Regulator That Is Capable Of Lowering The Fuel Pressure To 7-8psi. Any More Pressure Than That Will Push Open The Float Valve And Flood Your Engine. Good Luck!

Re: Help in making this swap work,Carb block to tbi block
waste of money, drop a 4.3L at least or even a V8 in there.
You are going to be swapping everything anyways. Drop a worth while engine in there for your effort. |
