Ok i found out the offical name is lash adjusters.

I dont even think i am getting any oil pressure at all though. Could it be because i am doing it with a wrench, so im not going fast enough to even pull the oil up the pick up tube?

Re: Primeing the Oil System

You have to use the starter The oil pump wont be very effective at .3 RPM

Re: Primeing the Oil System

How do you do that again? Just disconnect the starter relay and turn the key over and hold it?

Re: Primeing the Oil System

dissconect the ECU fuse, or the coil pack, etc. You need the motor to turn over without starting, thats all. Give it 10 second bursts (so you dont overheat the starter), say 3 times or so, with a half a minute between them to let the starter cool.

Re: Primeing the Oil System

So three 10 second bursts will be enough to prime a new turbo?

Re: Primeing the Oil System

Its always been enough for me. I tried it on a friends car with the oil feed line disconnected from the turbo. Its started flwing oil imediately.

Ok i cranked the starter 3 times for 10sec. With the 30sec breaks in between. But still no oil is coming out of the oil feed line to the turbo...

I think i might be screwed. I dont think any one put greese on the oil pump before it was installed. Could this be why?

If it is then how can i get it working with out tareing out the oil pump?

What if i put some oil in the oil feed for the turbo and let it drain into the oil pump?

Life she is a bit of a itch

Re: Primeing the Oil System

Glad it worked out. Sometimes you just wont get oil flow at crankingspeed from a new pump, and starting it up is the only way to get it working. It starts flowing so quickly at 7-800 rpm that it doenst hurt anything anyway, in my opinion.
