Oil
I have a 97 grand cherokee 2wd Inline6.
anyway i just changed my oil yesterday, and today there is some oil on sale and i would like to stock up if its a decent oil. So does shell make a decent oil? if not they also have castrol GTX on sale but still more and is that good? Thanks |

Re: Oil
Any of the Name Brand oils are decent oils.
The one that I like and have had good comments from others on is the Mobil Dello 400 oil. It is made very much like the castrol syntec only with out the price of syntec. Unless a vehicle is using oil, I don't worry about using the cheapest. If the vehicle is in good condition, I do try to find the best price on an oil with the best API rating. If it has a commercial rating for diesel engines along with the gas engine rating, so much the better. What viscosity are you using?? |

Re: Oil
all i know right now is that im using 10w30
and the shell oil is certified for gasoline engines. it seem to be good enough for me. After i get my rebate it will only be 59cents per qt., which is less then half the in store price. (they only let me buy 12qts ) Oh yeah i olny have 49,000 miles on my jeep and running great. |

The only brand of oil that i have heard anything bad about is Quaker State. I know a lot of people use it, but have been told by several engine rebuilders that Quaker State is prone to sludging. I dont understand why since it all comes out of the same hole, but they say that it does sludge.
