I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or not when I tried to replace thermostat. I'm assuming the thermostat should go into the housing first and then the rubber gasket. My problem is the thermostat does not go into housing and sit flush without fighting a spring pressure. Gets to about 1/2" or less and there is resistance. I tried turning the thermostat thinking I am not lining something up correctly to no avail. I tried wrestling with the gasket in front and pushing the gasket, thermostat, and outer housing together against the spring pressure to no avail. What am I missing? I put it together without any thermostat for the time being. Please help.

Re: Trick to Thermostat???
you need to put the gasket around the edge of thermostat and than put it in , make sure that the small bolt it is facing upward.
there will be some resistance because of the spring don't worry about that , just make sure that when you install the housing it is installed in correct way - just press it against the surface it should sit flush - otherwise it will leak. Also dont over torque them bolts - they should be at around 13 inch/lb just be patient - it it quite frustrating especially for such an easy job. good luck !!! IronKrakus |
