Question 1998 Durango

Have been reading about the A/C problems in the Durango's, and just wondered if there has been any attempt to do a class action suit. This seems to be huge issue with a couple of repair shops I have visited, they DO NOT want to work on the car because they do not know what to fix. They say the problems are too numerous, that I wouldn't want to spend all the money necessary to fix the problem. They actually recommended I take it to the Dealer. Ha. ($$$$$$) I bought the car used with 97k miles on it and currently has 109k and so far so good, with the exception of A/C. We love everything else about it. Sort of. A Jeep it isn't.

ADDED COMMENT 10/31/05: Did what someone else suggested. Every summer, disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core, and just connect them together with a splice kit. Then when cold weather hits, re-hook to heater core. During the summer the A/C works like a champ, so must be the switch, and bypass valves sticking partially open allowing heat to enter the A/C system.
