I'm 19 my bird is a 1990 standard (not a Trans am or Formula) w/ a 305 v-8 Liability (sp) only for me is about 700-800 a year they aren't cheap, full coverage was about 900 every 6 months when my dad got insurance for me they asked if it was a T/A or formula and said if it was insurance was quite a bit higher. my advise is to get a standard model w/ a 350 and if you want a T/A or a formula wait till your 25+ the rates get a lot cheaper then. Good Luck I'm sure you will be very happy with a 3rd Gen. I love mine.

I used to pay $110 per month when I owned a 2000 Toyota Camry. My insurance sky-rocketed to $135 per month after I purchased my Firebird.

I lowered my limits for bodily injury liability each person/occurence $100k/$300k to $100k/$200k and saved a substantial amount compared to if I would have kept it the same.

The collision is what you mostly need to be concerned about since it hits you the hardest. My collision increased an additional $24 per month. I am paying $0.90 less for bodily injury liability because I lowered my limits.

My insurance gave me a big break after I turned 25 years old and another break after I turned 30 years old (also equivalent if you get married but not both).

I never received any tickets or accidents that are counted against me so that is why I get awesome safe driver discounts!

I didn't get a Formula or T/A because they are classified as a sports vehicle and I would probably be paying close to $175-$200 per month and the Firebird is classified as a subcompact and the premiums are affordable.

I guess the reason why sales are down for the Camaro/Firebird is because of the insurance premiums and many sports utility vehicles.

I have always been a Firebird fan and wanted one ever since I was 16 years old but could never afford it because nobody would insure me at a reasonable rate. My parents split up and I had to provide for my own transportation. I envied those kids that had rich snob parents who spoiled their kids to the point they would buy their kids another car after they wrecked the first one.

I'm late getting started and since this is the last year I could own one, I decided to buy one now with the nice bonus incentive and low apr that GM is offering until the end of this month.

Good luck!
