Monogram Fiero
Anyone built this kit. I seen it at hobby lobby and it is my practical dream car(the ferrari just isnt happening) and I would love to build it. Although I do know that in the past I have built monogram models with some serious fitment problems. So I was wondering if anyone has built this or heard anything about this kit regarding fitment and/or accuracy?

Re: Monogram Fiero
Well, it is molded in red and is exactly as it was when it was first released.
Everything is molded red. One tree of chrome parts, one set of wheels and nameless tires. The window glass is also tinted. The big dissapointment is the tires, no name, and they appear to be a bias ply as the tread markings are very light. Close to a BFG tire. Not sure what they came with stock though. I haven't built it yet. I mainly bought it for nostalgic reasons. One of the first few kits I built as a teenager. I will build it eventually though. Hope this helps. Chris |

I am converting it to be an 88 as a tribute to my late grandfater his is a very rare combination and leterally one of the last (He also had pretty much the first one as well he ordered without seeing it, he just read a spec sheet, and was like cool and bought one). But its a nice kit comes with some optional parts, the engine detail is fantastic (BTW the my grandfathers 88 is in my garage so I would know), but it is an automatic and that has to be changed, none the less the interior detail is top notch as well. The nose points up too much, and the lower splitter is also too large. I picked mine up for likk $12, I say go for it.

Re: Monogram Fiero
I made it about 15 years ago, but from what i remember it was a real pain with the wheel arches. There are some flared ones in the kit and they were not a good fit so i had to do a lot of filling. The windows weren't that pleasant to put in either. overall though it was a nice little kit if you like that car. Also you don't have to put the body kit on.

Re: Monogram Fiero
Well I guess it sounds like everyone says the kit is not that bad. Except for tiki, but minor filling is a given on any model so I think im gonna do it.
BTW SkylineMan32 The 88 GT is my favorite Fiero

Re: Monogram Fiero
hold on. Did revell just re-release this or something? The tires that come with it are Goodyear Eagle VR45 or VR50.

Hello, I own a Fiero
and have 3 of the 85 GT kits. My first was an original issue kit I built a couple years ago as an Indy Pace Car. The two new ones I bought are going to be another Pace Car with opening doors and working strobe light in the scoop, and all the engine wiring and just plain super-detailed (having the real car as a reference REALLY helps!)The earlier Fieros came with Goodyear Eagle GT tires, I still have two originals in the garage on the 14" wheels. The 88's had Goodyear Eagle GT+4's I think. The kit Tikiman is talking about is the MPC 1/25 Fiero, which is a totally different kit with an opening hood and not quite as nice details in some places. If it's practically your dream car, just go pick one up They're suprisingly inexpensive, a non-running one can be had for as little as $100. The more desireable models go for $2000-$4000, depending on year, model, and options.Any more Fiero questions, feel free to visit our forum ![]() http://www.fiero.nl/ Here's a link to a discussion we had on the kit, along with a kind of review: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/043982.html |

Here the spec sheet to my Fiero (Yes I am 14 but my grandma said its mine since my grandfather passed away)
1988 GT V6(Haven't checked the vin myself but I am told it is literally one of the last) About 90,000 Miles Special Ordered Deleted Spoiler Special Ordered Deleted Side Vents No Sunroof Blackout Factory Deep Dish 15'' Multispoke racing wheels Monotone White Paintwork(Original, BTw I accidentally waxed the trunk cover anyone know how do get my gloss back?) Leather Interior AM/Fm/Cassete Getrag 5 Speed A/C (Every Availible Interior option) Car has some squeaks in the motor probably needs new belts and pulleys, also who knows when the timing belt goes and how much it costs?) The car is pretty much a no frills pere racing exteror and tranny and a full frills interior. This setup is rare and valueable close to $10,000 Retail but I won't take a dime less that $50,000. |

Re: Monogram Fiero
You could not have summed up my dream car any bit better unless it has a 455 Toronado engine in it!

There MR and they were desingend to (and do) run with the Ferrari 246 and the Porsche 911's of their day the only place the Europeans got the Pontiac was in top speed, and not even by that much. My grandman told me today that when he (my grandfather) got the 88, he got my grandma in the car and told her to watch the speedometer so he could keep his eyes on the road during a max speed run on the freeway. My grandma says they reached a tad over 140 (MPH), which my grandma doesn't lie when it comes to cars.
