Bet you never ran over your own hood...

Well, I'v had my hood off for a few days straitening all the dents out of it and primeing it and wetsanding and had just put the final coat of primer on it two nights ago and last night I had just sat it on the car where its supposed to go but hadnt bolted it up yet. Well I'm absent minded somewhat and today I hoped in the car and took off down the road, got about a quarter mile from my house and it hit me that something just wasnt right so I started slowing down and right about that time my hood slid smooth off the car and I ran right over it. Bent the hell out of the front drivers side corner (little part that goes down between headlights) and pretty much took care of all the sanding that I dont. Supprisingly it didnt dent it up any besides folding that corner in. I pulled over and threw it in the hatch and took off... think I have about half the amount of rubber on my tires now. So pissed off I havnt looked to see if its going to be fixable yet.

Re: Bet you never ran over your own hood...

luckly my tires didnt accually go over it, so it didnt flatten any of it out, just folded that corner in a little. It scratched the hell out of it, like ate 1grit sand paper doing 30mph heh. I'll probably start fixing it tomorow. Oddly enough This isnt the first time I've ran over part of the car I was driving. On my 77 gremlin I accually halfway ripped off the fender going down the road. The tires are a tad too wide and I went to turn and between being wide and the suspension being compressed just right it rubbed the fender and jerked it loose and slung it back in tward the firewall.

Lession of the day.... Bad stuff happens to me

Re: Bet you never ran over your own hood...

Sorry to hear.. I've done similar before. I changed the belts in my friend's '94 cavalier, and didn't close the hood completely before he took off(it was just resting on the latch)... goin about 40 the thing flips up and hits the windshield. Windshield didn't break, my friend didn't crash into anything, just his hood and cowl got messed up. the bolts that hold the hood on to the hinges actually pushed through the sheetmetal on the hood, so now he has bolts sticking through his hood. Pretty cool.

Re: Bet you never ran over your own hood...

Its ok man, we all do stupid shit.

One time I had my car jacked up, trying to find out what the rattle was in my car and it was driving me crazy, soI wasn't in the best of moods. Then I got it done and just in the car and went to move it. I ran over my dounut tire and fell off the jack. Im lucky I didnt break anything. I felt real dumb.

Another time when I first got my 89 hatch, R.I.P., I was working on it and had my entire tool set, helms manual, and my celly P on the roof. Well I ended up forgeting it was on top and I got about a half mile down the road and I just happen to look in my rear view as my tools fall off the roof....I ended up looking like a jackass picking up all my tools, and I lost a few sockets and screw driver bits.

I left my Nelly cd on top of my truck and forgot to take it off. My mom drove away and the cd is gone. That's some bad shit. LMAO...I hope I don't have any problems like you guys have had. I'll let you know when worse things happen. I am guaranteed to mess something up now.
