I wish I had an answer
My 97 Taurus idles very high in park or neutral. Unfortunaltely, it does not cause service engine lights to come on.
It is very sporadic and does not do it continually. Has anyone had an answer for you Willerd? |

Re: I wish I had an answer
First off, which engine do you have. also, how high is high? sometimes, my taurus with the duratec will rev to about 1500 in park when turned on, then idles down after a bit. if you car just does it when in park, even after you car has been on for a while, look to a transmission shop, to see if your beginning to slip.

I had a 1994 Ford Taurus with a 3.0 with the SHO transmission in it.. and in park or neutral just as described my taurus would idle at 2500RPM and numerous times the only thing I could find wrong was throttle position sensor.. and no luck, I tryed and diagnosed everything from MASS air sensor to Fuel Injector Poppets nothing fixed it.. the car was screwed so I drove it for another 60000 miles that way, thinking nothing of it, and telling everyone that looked at me like my car was a junker that it was built that way..
than I finally through a rod out of her, and there she went.. to the crusher..
