highport lowport head swap
I have a 91 G-20 (that would be low port head I think) that has 165K and runs great. Problem is after 11 years of Wisconsin's salt, rust is starting to pop up on the sill below the driversdoor/ front 1/4 panel. I have a Hotshot header and AGX shocks the rest is stock. I will soon be looking for a newer ('95 or '96) G20T (that would be a high port head I think).
QUESTION 1) Is there anything to be gained by swaping the heads on the '91 I have and the '95- '96 I want? QUESTION 2) Will the Hotshot for the '91 I have fit the '95-'96 I want? QUESTION 3) I understand the '91 had stiffer springs then later years, should I also swap the springs/shocks? Thanks |

Geo verified that the stiffer/softer spring dealie was false.
The header will work fine both places, you will need an AIV plug. I wouldn't bother swapping in any engine unless it was a DET.

The 91' is the Highport , 94 and up is the lowport. It's because the engine design would have you assume that the 91' sr20de is the low.
:flash:

re: highport lowport
OK, springs are out shocks are in and the header is in.
Lets go back to the head itself and not the engine. The head swap is pretty easy, and I understand that the intake cam, combined with its head configuration on the '91 was the hot ticket. What about it? Thanks rusting slowly but picking up speed Pete PS: I bypassed/removed all the AIV on the '91 |
