low pressure a/c recharge valve?

I've read this forum and a few of the a/c posts, but still am a little confused about the location of the a/c recharge inlet. There are two tubes leading to and from the evaporator on the firewall. One runs on top of the other one, the top tube is of a smaller diameter and has two valves accessible. The valve closest to the firewall is smaller (diameter) than the other. The recharge can/gauge (r-134a) fits on the smaller valve, not the larger.

Is this smaller valve the low pressure inlet? Which makes the other the high pressure, but they are on the same tube? This is why I am confused.

Thanks as always.

Brian

That's the low pressure fitting, the one you located closest to the firewall. You should see what looks like a hex couple fitting between the two inlets. That's actually the expansion orifice tube. The re-charge connector should only fit on the low-pressure side.
